THE WALL:

ASSIGNMENT 1 - MOVIE ANALYSIS

XXXXPosted by dr.dray at 2:46 AM

Hope everyone had a good easter break and stuffed yourself with alot of zyummy chocolate easter eggs... Mmm..

...Now back to work. =P

Just reminding you guys about your assignment..

You need to write up a movie analysis from any of the movies on the list from Dr Bennett's blog post below. It should be around 1500 words, and must be uploaded on the blog AND jivi before MIDNIGHT on Friday 16th April.

This assignment is worth 30% of your total class mark, please refer to the med1915 website (https://sites.google.com/a/ait.nsw.edu.au/med1915) or jivi to check assessment criteria and what I'm looking for to score a High Distinction or a Distinction. (Aim big, dudes)

Just a few Dr Dray rules:

  • NO PLAGIARISM - if I find out you guys copied and pasted from a website like Wikipedia or IMDB without referencing, there are no excuses... I'll be giving you a big fat 0. Yep, a ZERO! It is very obvious for me and Dr Bennett to notice these things... We are keeping an eye out guys, so just wanna warn you before you press CTRL+C and CTRL+V ... Don't do it. Be honest with you're writing and keep it real, yo. Don't worry, I'll go through with you in class how to reference your sentences.

  • ANALYZE, DONT CRITICIZE - Analyze means examining closely, and picking out details in order to discover a meaning of 'something'. Criticize means to make a judgement and pick out the flaws of 'something'. So in terms of films, I want you guys to write up your ANALYSIS- so what you 'discovered' about the movie, how the movie relates to the world around you, the meaning of the movie, the mise-en-scene, cinematography, sound and editing. Do NOT be writing how much you hated a film, like 'The Virgin Suicides was so gay, I hate it because ....." Or else Dr Dray will shoot you.

  • ADD EXTRA TOPPING - If your aiming to score big, I suggest you add a little extra touch to your analysis. For example, add some pictures or screenshots to your analysis especially if you are writing about a particular scene and want to clearly show an example. Add quotes from the movie, as this shows you actually remember the movie, and always write down the name of the character. Write up your analysis with a great opening/conclusion. That is important too if you want me to give you juicy scores.
Now I hope everyone has started bits of their analysis, and I'll remind you again to upload on the blog as 'New Post' AND on jivi as a PDF or doc/docx file.

I'll also upload links and blog posts of powerful film analysis's shortly.

See you little monsters tomorrow at 11am!

Ciao Ciao
Dr Dray
